girls' night in

last thursday night - and into the small hours - a 'girls night in' was held to raise money for women's cancer research.

my dear friend lisa and i braved it and decided to finally share our handiwork with others.

it was for a good cause and it came to us so fast that we didn't have time to reconsider.

we were a little unprepared but i had a 'light bulb moment' that when you are in control of making the goods, there will never be enough, you'll never be ready and you'll never feel like you have a wide enough range. it was a handy realisation the night before and enabled me to a) relax before the evening and b) whip up a new item to add to the stall about 2 hours before i left.

odd that in this acceptance more creativity arrived. think i should hold on to it.

amazing what a bunch of pink clad women, eating delicious, if a little pink, food, drinking plenty of vin can achieve in a short while.
in the process $1300 was raised.
we paid for, and then released balloons, carrying wishes to strangers.

i was tickled pink by the support my humble little offerings gained from the gathering.
this was my very first attempt at a 'stall'.

happy girls :)

spring fling

tigs had a special day at school on friday. it was their 'spring fling wear your bling' day to celebrate the spring racing carnival.
they were invited to dress up and dazzle as if they were going to the races.
i popped back to school in time to see the arrival of a very special and famous visitor, subzero.
what a relaxed and gracious gentleman he was. the children lined up and all had a pat (i snuck one in too).
' subby', well he just nibbled away at a new patch of grass.

tigs won the fashions on the field which he seemed to take in his stride. he was without a doubt the most handsome boy on the field.
oh, am i allowed to say that? course i can.

today is derby day and it's bucketing down, we're expecting a month's worth of rain in 48 hours. i feel sorry for all the inappropriately attired ladies out at flemington, but even sorrier for the horses having to gallop through the rain and the mud.

olden days

momo brought us an 'old fashioned' typewriter.
very groovy, very 80's!
very fun! according to both tigs and woo.

i love the sound of it tapping away as i sew.

very madmen.

back soon with a report on last night...

oh, dear.

i don't think words can explain as well as these do. at least the mess equals the productivity.
i'm hoping to sell some things in a couple of weeks, rather a week, actually 5 days - gulp - at a friends house. so the house will likely remain in this state until then and maybe beyond it as i crash in a heap.

felt::threads

spy satchels for little boys.

school fete today.
there has been a buzz around the school, this house and at least two family members (tigs and me) in it.
my house is trashed with threads, snippets of fabric and a hundred ideas mid-flight.

clean

my funny pair. smelling deliciously sweet - baby goodness, greg calls it.
woo's fringe is starting to grow and i think she looks lovely with it in a bow.
she had been somewhat reluctant to have her 'ha bow' put in, that is until tigs decided to wear one!

i love that even as i type this he remains unfazed that it will be documented for posterity (21st?). ah, the innocence.

art of woo

you love to draw. this was a rare moment, though, this one was done on paper...

you're two and you can draw almost perfect circles and are starting to add little circles inside and calling it a 'miley face'!

i just want to remember and remind myself that your 'naughtiness' is mostly because you're just so clever.

i love you woo.

bu-kurk!

our neighbour flew past to say hello!

she was a very welcome visitor and caused egg-streme egg-citement around here. jun was seriously shocked to see her appear outside his window, tigs super excited and full of a thousand questions, woo shouting and laughing with delight. even greg thought it was an interesting event. me, i was thrilled by her beauty and the chance to photograph her, liberated and off on her adventure to 'the other side'.
i felt very 'beatrix' as her story played out in my head.

her family retrieved her and her beautiful wings have now been clipped so she'll probably not be here for a while, but i'm glad she won't get 'lost' on the roads around here. i rather like her and her sister's gentle clucking as they go about their day over the fence.

frozen focus

my little storm-chaser, couldn't wait to get collecting 'samples'.
i love (and sometimes get frustrated) that tigs just doesn't rush, even in the middle of a hailstorm.

call me irresponsible for letting him go out in the hail,
but i remember being able to do similar things when i was a little girl
and loving the exhilaration and excitement of the 'out of the ordinary'.

he rushed inside for hot chocolate!

the birds

seems to be a recurring theme around here.
first henny-penny and now ducky-lucky, quacking like fury on our roof. heaven forbid we end up with goosey-loosey or worse foxy-loxy.

spring showers

showers of ice, that is!

these pics hot off the press. the photos don't really show the extent of the white that covered our little house.

the lavender was was dressed in tiny crystal balls, i hope you can see it in the close-up. each little hailstone rested in the 'cup' of a bud.

well, hello there ...

it's been a while, quite a while.
we've had school holidays.
and illness throughout the our little family with tigs dropping first - it lasted two weeks (cruelly taking up the whole first week of the hols), followed by greg (who was bed ridden for four days with temperatures like tiggy's) and just when i thought woo had thankfully escaped it, she and i finally caved and followed the others.

uggh! please remind me next year to get. my. flu. shot!

anyway we are all mended and back to a normal life (although greg would beg to differ) and back to the blog. he did, however, show surprisingly generous support for my blog ramblings by driving off course (he really did veer off the male a-to-b programming) and chased this stunning, gorgeous full, double rainbow until there were no power lines in the shot. just for me! sweet hey?
and now i can share it with you and keep it for posterity.

click the pics and see the radiant arc it in all it's glory.

see you soon, i hope.
