let the sunshine

We have had the most glorious day here in Melbourne.  Achingly beautiful skies.  Tear inducing sunshine with the perfect ratio of heat to breeze .  Cups of tea with a great friend at her exquisite new house and then lunch and shopping with Woo and Momo.  Just the best kind of day.  It almost makes me weep.

Oh, and this song just gets to my core.  I hope it fills your day with sunshine.

Thank you for visiting.

bunny tails

My babies love their "yolk eggs" in the morning.

Wooie likes hers rock hard, cool, and with the yolk removed (what?). If I'm not fast enough and leave the egg in its shell near her she, bizarrely chomps through that too. YUK!

On the other hand Tigs likes his egg barely set. He likes a 'volcano' to erupt when he stabs the yolk with his soldier.

Me, I can well live without eggs altogether. It is a testament to my love for my children that I make them at all. Of all the ways of cooking eggs, "yolk" ones would be the most repulsive to me. I almost gag at the smell. And the oozing ... oh gosh I gag even more.

Anyway at long last needle and thread found their way to cloth!
The one and only nice thing about boiled eggs for me is to cover them with something sweet.
I hope my babes will like their Easter-Bunny-Tail-Yolk-Egg-Covers.

I hope you are having a lovely and gag-free day and thanks for stopping by.

co-operation

Happiness for me is as simple as two children interacting harmoniously. It's been MIA here lately. And the other day as I was trying to settle yet another dispute decided that they could both do what they wanted to do on my computer.

Woo watched Toy Story 3 and Tigs wrote a story.

How much serenity...

And for those who would rather see their faces:

I hope that today brings you serenity too.

remembering

Unbearably hard to believe that it was four years ago that my wonderfully charismatic,
beautiful and adoring Meme was taken from us.

On Sunday nights I write my jobs for the next day and week, which I find an almost meditative task. Last night as I was deep in thought I heard a voice, crisp and clear.
I jumped at the interruption before recognising it.

She said, "I love you. You deserve to be happy."

And I'll love you and miss you all the days of my life, Meme.

girl time

In an act of complete indulgence and spontaneity Woo and I went to the salon and had our first shared pedi together. She sat on her own chair and read Harper's Bazaar (Can I cross my legs please Mummy?). When she tired of the mag she altered my massage chair - it still felt good. And then while my nails dried we painted hers the same colour as mine. She was completely adorable and behaved like a princess the whole time. It was a joy to be there with her. All the customers gushed as she chitter-chattered away to me and remembered all her beautiful manners to thank the staff for washing her hands and giving her a drink. They also laughed like mad as she walked around the salon with the toe dividers jammed between her tiny toes!

I'm almost cringing as I type because it sounds so inappropriate - she's two, for goodness sake - but I'll blame Woo's Aunty Floss and her grandmother Momo as they won't come with me. Or maybe I'll just hold my head up and be happy that I did something lovely for me today and was able to have my darling baby girl with me for the ride. Yes, much better.

My all your toes be as cheery as ours are.

who's been playing with MY camera?

I just uploaded some photos and found a series of images that I'm pretty sure I didn't take. I loved them though.

The angles.

The subject matter.

The evidence!!

So it was you Woo :)

I hope you're having a lovely day!

woo's wicked week

My fearless feisty little girl has a big week of activities this year. She has started at a little kindy-creche, which she loved the first day and waved me off. Wonderful, I thought, this will be perfect. Such a change from Tiggy's anxieties about leaving me. But by the time I returned I found a puffy eyed, tear-stained, over-tired and extremely worried little girl. So much for fearless and feisty.

This was Woo on her first morning. She had been excited and rabbited on Wooie style about being a kindy-girl. Poor baby. We'll persevere though. She's such a social being that I'm confident she'll love it soon. Wow does she sleep afterwards though.

Next up is tambourine time. It's not that great actually, same old Wiggles CD cranked out each week - yawn! But she loves it. I stay with her and that thrills her. Me ... not so much. It's not that I don't want to be with her it's just that the teacher is disengaged, the parents are too. Even the children are and often seem to just go through the motions. We had a super emergency teacher in a couple of weeks ago and there were bubbles (see above), scarves, ribbons, musical instruments and fun, fun, fun linked with song, dance and music including aboriginal, polka, classical or as Woo likes to call it, ba-yay (ballet) moosic), synthesiser. Fabulous. We'll try and swap next term.
She had a ball but then she has a ball no matter who's taking it, what music there is or how repetitive it is :)

Finally, we round out the week with a good old swim. Again she loves it. I sit on the sidelines, applauding her bravery and fluffing out my chest at how clever she is. Again she sleeps like a top!

The top and tail of the week are home days, preparing for the week ahead, recuperating from the week's activities and playing heartily either at home or out at friends. She knows how to kick up her heels, does Woo.

Thanks for popping by and I hope you pack in as much fun as Woo does today!
