mother nature does it again

We had such a lovely, unplanned and unexpectedly wonderful day. Our very special friends Lizzie, M & J came to visit us in the bush. Lizzie and I walked a terribly windy road to our babies but were so lucky to have had each other through it all. Somehow in spite of our wildly different journeys (but equally difficult) it ended up that our babies are only 4 ½ months apart in age. Amazing.

It’s always so relaxing to spend time with Lizzie. We took all four children down to the dam and the big guys had a ball with the water and the mud and were planning all sorts of adventures down there. Such fun.

The sky was what I call ‘Arizona Blue’ – Magic. My grandfather (Hi Davidad/Grandaddy) lives in Arizona and the sky there is indescribably blue. I think the only way you would ever understand how blue it is, is to go and see it for yourself. I think yesterday’s sky here came as close as I’ve seen.

There is so much to look at around the dam and some old weathered and sun bleached corrals and fence posts that were begging to be photographed before they completely disintegrate.

The little ones needed to go to sleep (Baby Twinkle nodded off in the baby carrier). And Lizzie’s wee one was going to go to bed as soon as we came in. Well, that was the Mummies’ plan. The babies disagreed entirely and Twinkle woke up as soon as I took her out of the pouch and Lizzie’s babe never even tried to sleep!

And then Mother nature gave us another glorious morning - this morning. Chill, still and every bit as beautiful as yesterday. Thick fog blanketed the valley this morning and even now sits heavily. The sun is desperately trying to clear it aside and we’re heading for another lovely Autumn day. Or are we in winter now?

We're having such a lovely time up here, house and dogsitting. The air feels clean and crisp and the wide open space calming and liberating.

The sunrise this morning was just beautiful. It crept up over the ridge and lit up the house with the most beautiful golden glow. It's chilly this morning up here but so warm in the sunshine. Right, back for some more Vitamin D!

The 'bad' one was chasing bunnies under the fence and into the next door field. She did come back, eventually, and absolutely in her own time. I promise I'm looking after them all well Mummy. But as gorgeous as Lexi is, she is also pretty wicked. I'll try and catch her in a 'good' moment and then you can see her too.

9 months.

Our little Twinkle is growing up so fast. We can hardly believe we have been together for two months. She's learned so much in so little time.

She can clap, wave, blow kisses, sit up, crawl, move around the furniture and eat lots and lots of different solid food.

She's also learned to dance a little, which is SO sweet. She nods her head and bobs up and down.

Although she looks like she's standing by herself she's actually leaning against the chair but she's pretty stable up on her little feet.

Who knew such a little girl could bring so much joy??

Most of Tiggy's friend have birthday's in the first half of the year. Tigs and I thought these fleecy cushions would be great to cuddle up to. We hope the boys agree!

Mother's Day

This Mother’s Day was a very special one for me. It’s not that we did anything special, in fact we did nothing at all. It was so perfect because at long, long last I have my two precious children.
We ate, toasted Marshmallows on the fire, read, walked in the field, watched DVD’s and relaxed completely. I kept wondering why it felt so wonderful, well obviously I have my two gorgeous children but I realized that it was so special because it represents the end of so much waiting.

I am not waiting for, police checks, financials, health assessments or social worker visits. I am not waiting to have documents translated, notarized, authenticated, checked, couriered, tracked, assessed, and approved. I am not waiting for the department to ring to tell me that we have been approved, accepted, allocated. Nor am I waiting for the first court hearing, the first decree, the final decree, the call to travel. We are no longer waiting in airports, in transit, in Hong Kong, in Taiwan.

I feel liberated and wonderfully, blissfully happy!!! We are done. Well, we have a few little things to complete here over the next 10 months with the department but they are all bearable. We applied to ICAS 7 years ago to adopt our first beautiful baby and now at last we are finished.

I still find it hard to believe that I am actually a Mummy, a Mummy to two such lovely children. It really is a miracle and I am so very grateful that I am theirs, and they are mine. How lucky I am!

To all the Mummy's I know (including those who have fur-babies!!) I hope you had a really happy day!

Snuggly, snuffly sheets to go at the top of the cot. They catch all sorts of baby yuk without having to change the whole cot. My Grandma knitted the blanket on T2's cot for me when I was a baby, way back when!

The gorgeous soft Japanese cotton is destined to line a little pair of dove grey cords for Twinkle to match a pair that are on the machine for Tigs! I think they'll look so sweet together.
